Sentosa Jaya Capital Sdn. Bhd. (SJ Capital) is a Licensed Financial Services Company governed by MoneyLenders Act 1951, now known as Credit Community, under the purview of Urban Well-being, Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT). Our principal activity is to provide the services related to both conventional and Islamic modes of share financing. SJ Capital, founded by an experienced and dedicated group of Remisiers and Bankers was officially incorporated in 2006. Business operations started via Sentosa Jaya Marketing & Services who played the role as an in-house Marketing Agent to market and promote Share Financing products to local co-operatives’ members, corporate clients, and retail investors in the equities market of Bursa Malaysia.
At that moment, their survey indicated that many Initial Public Offering ’s (IPO) investors and employees of public listed company with Employee Share Option Scheme (ESOS) have limited resources to fund their IPO and ESOS. Many have difficulty to secure funding to exercise their share options that were allocated or offered to them. Hence, they feel obligated to help those investors and employees to meet their financing needs.
As a company that focuses and specialises in equity and share financing. It is our goal to assist investors to meet their financing needs.
Our corporate vision is for SJ Capital to become a digital Financial Services Company offering various conventional and shariah financial products. We envisage specializing in Online Share Financing and Equity Financing by providing suitable and practical financial solutions to meet the financial needs of both the end client and the shareholders of public listed companies. These financial needs would include financing their allocated shares or converting their existing shares into cash without having to sell or lose ownership of such shares.
As a reflection of this vision, OUR MISSION is to facilitate and provide a wide range of financial services through our innovative Financial Technology (FINTECH) and Online Financing platforms — resulting in a simple, easy and fast access to financing at affordable and realistic terms and conditions — in line with our company motto “YOUR SHARE FINANCING PARTNER”.
SJ Capital increased its paid-up capital to RM3.0 million and its authorized capital to RM5.0 million respectively. The company was granted the Money Lending Licence by KPKT in March 2015, and in 2016, due to high demand for Sharia-compliant products, SJ Capital appointed the Malaysian Islamic Youth Cooperative Berhad and three (3) qualified and certified individuals as Sharia Advisors to assist SJ Capital in offering Sharia-compliant products and to ensure that all operations of SJ Capital meet the requirements and conditions of Sharia compliance.
In 2017, Bursa Malaysia Islamic Services (BMIS) approved the registration of SJ Capital as a Commodity Trading Participant (CTP). With this approval, SJ Capital is now permitted to use the Bursa Suq Al Sila’ platform (BSAS) to facilitate Islamic financial transactions under the concept of Tarawuq.
In August 2018, SJ Capital became the first Credit Community Company to be granted an exemption by KPKT to provide Islamic Financing business. This is the first company with a Money Lending License to be accredited with such recognition.
In 2019, Koperasi Sentosa Jaya Kuala Lumpur Berhad (KOSENJAYA) was incorporated by a group of staff and SJ Capital’s clients. Members also include a group of investors who have been allotted an Initial Public Offering (IPO) by Private Placement from investment banks or Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry (MITI)
In 2019, SJ Capital was appointed as a panel of financiers for the EXSIM group of Companies. EXSIM is a reputable developer with a current gross development value of more than RM10 billion. SJ Capital provided financing to EXSIM’s homebuyers who had insufficient downpayment or a shortfall of deposits but had successfully secured end-financing from financial institutions for the purchase of EXSIM’s properties/ real estate. Although property financing is not the main activity of SJ Capital, by helping these homebuyers finance their shortfall resulted in a meaningful contributions by SJ Capital as this made their dreams come true.
In 2020, Sentosa Jaya Equity Berhad (SJE) was incorporated which is 90% owned by SJ Capital. In June 2020, SJ Capital then appointed BIMB Securities Sdn Bhd on their panel of Shariah Advisors to further gain customers’ confidence in all the Shariah compliant products, especially in the Share Financing segment that is currently being offered by the Company.
SJE has issued its prospectus in 2021 to raise new Islamic Redeemable Preference Shares (IRPS) to RM100,000,000.00 Until now SJE has managed to deliver a very commendable dividend to our IRPS holders up to 12% per annum.
In 2024, SJ Capital launched its new platform of Saham2u.com.my which is the first platform of its kind in Malaysia to offer investors an online application.
